Learner driver hoon busted doing burnouts on Bruce Highway

A 17-year-old Gympie boy has had his licence plates confiscated, lost seven demerit points and been fined more than $1000 after police caught him doing burnouts at Chatsworth.

Police police have fined a 17-year-old learner driver with more than $1000 in hooning offences, for allegedly doing burnouts on the Bruce Highway near Chatsworth.

Officers were patrolling the area just north of Gympie on February 6, 2025, when they stopped a Holden Commodore allegedly doing burnouts in the middle of the highway.

The boy’s licence plates were confiscated and he was issued three traffic infringement notices, costing $1032 and stripped of seven demerit points.
