Investigations continue into Maryborough stabbing

A police investigation continues after a man was allegedly stabbed by an unknown woman while walking home from a night out. Read the latest.

Investigations are continuing after a man was allegedly stabbed twice by a woman during an incident in Maryborough last month.

A police spokeswoman said no charges had been laid and investigations into the matter were ongoing after the incident about 2.40am on October 29.

According to police, four people were walking home after having a drink together in Maryborough.

The group walked past a man and a woman sitting on a loading dock, the spokesman said.

There was an exchange between the two groups and when the group of four tried to walk on, a fight broke out.

The woman then allegedly took out a knife repeatedly stabbed one of the men in the group of four.

Police said the woman and man did not know each other.

Police were called to the intersection of Sussex and John Streets following reports a man had sustained a wound to his back.

According to the Queensland Ambulance Service, the man was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital in a serious condition with wounds to his chest and shoulder following the incident.

A woman was arrested after the incident, but no charges have been laid, police said.
