Man dies after car crashes into pole in Maryborough
A man has been killed after the car he was driving smashed into a pole, cutting power to a Fraser Coast town.

A man has died after his car hit a light pole in Maryborough this morning.
Power was cut to almost two thousand residents in the city centre of the Fraser Coast town after a 4WD hit a pole near North St about 10.15am on Sunday.
In a statement, police say preliminary inquiries indicated the 4WD travelled on John Street when it left the road and crashed.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics treated the man who was in a life-threatening condition.
The spokeswoman said it was understood to be a medical episode.
The 76-year-old Maryborough man sadly died at the scene.
Police investigations were ongoing.
According to the Ergon Energy Outage Finder, power was out from as far down as Maryborough State High School to the Sewage Treatment Works due to “public safety concerns as directed by emergency services”.
Power has since been restored.
