A talented pet groomer, with more than 15 years' experience in the industry, is opening her new salon on the Fraser Coast.

Rebeka Walton has worked as a pet groomer since she was 18 and took the leap to start her own salon after receiving positive feedback about her business venture.

Her home salon, Bark Avenue Grooming, is an “all-breed grooming” parlour for dogs, offering everything from standard cuts, to creative grooms with a pop of colour.

“It wasn’t even a career I’d even thought about, but it just seemed to work and I love it,” Ms Walton said.

Along with dog grooming, the salon will also offer cat grooming, de-shedding and clipping.

Growing up, Ms Walton said she watched her parents run their own concreting business in Maryborough which inspired her to go out on her own.

“I’ve just sort of reached a point in my life where I felt like I wanted to do something to sort of make myself proud … so that’s why I decided to do this,” she said.

Ms Walton highlighted a lot of her friends in the pet grooming industry had been overrun with work.

“There’s so many little dogs and dogs that need grooming around the Bay, and probably not enough groomers to do them all,” she said.

As her business will be located at her home in Sunshine Acres, Ms Walton said she could offer the services to pet owners who lived further out of town.

“I particularly like grooming Terrier breeds … especially Schnauzer are my favourite... and poodles …” she said.

Ms Walton is also a proud owner of three adorable pooches – her poodle Nala, French Bulldog Vader, and Xena, her American Staffordshire Terrier.

“I’m hoping in the future to offer doggie daycare,” she said.

Bark Avenue Grooming will officially open its doors in Sunshine Acres on November 1.
