One of the most popular cafes on the Fraser Coast has changed hands and the new owner promises everything will stay the same … with one exciting exception.
Esplanade eatery Salt Cafe, under Oaks Resort at Urangan, which has long been a breakfast, brunch and lunch favourite, has been bought out by the neighbouring Bayswater Bar & Grill, owned by the Hervey Bay RSL.
It’s a major addition to an already significant portfolio of businesses and land owned by the Hervey Bay RSL, which includes Bayswater, the recently opened $40 million club at Burpengary and a major residential development at Beach Road.
Under the RSL, which took over Salt Cafe from July 1, a business expansion opportunity has also emerged.
Salt Cafe will now allow for functions, including weddings – outside normal trading hours of 7am until 2.30pm – with the venue able to hold up to 120 guests.
Hervey Bay RSL CEO Jason Lynch said the popularity of the Bayswater Bar and Grill had grown substantially and finding enough function space had become an ongoing issue.
Mr Lynch also added with the Salt Cafe’s location, next to the Bayswater, the decision to buy the venue made sense.
“It’s our intention to leave the business as it is, with the same great staff, same suppliers, same everything … it will run just as it does now,” Mr Lynch said.
