Mysterious disappearance of Hervey Bay’s Monique Clubb to be subject of inquest

The mysterious disappearance of a Hervey Bay woman will come under scrutiny during an inquest into her death, set to be held in Southport next month.

An inquest into the mysterious disappearance of a Fraser Coast woman is set to be held in Southport next month.

Monique Clubb was 24 when she went to Brisbane in 2013 with friends. She would never return home to Hervey Bay.

She was last seen near Beenleigh train station on June 22 that year.

Monique had called her mother, Sheena McBride, to tell her she would be home when she got enough money for transport.

But after that, Monique’s phone, described by her family as her lifeline, went flat and went unanswered, no matter how many times they called.

Her family have never given up hope of getting answers.

Nikki Duncan, partner of Monique’s brother, Mickey, regularly speaks to the media, trying to seek information that could lead to a break through in finding their beloved daughter and sister.

On the anniversary of her disappearance in 2014, the lack of information and the many rumours surrounding the investigation was hard for her family to bear.

“It‘s still hard to believe she’s a missing person,” Nikki said at the time.

A Facebook page titled Help Bring Monique Clubb Home remains active, with more than 4000 members.

The inquest is set to begin on December 14.

Two issues will be considered, including how and where Monique died and her cause of death.

The adequacy of the police investigation will also be examined.
