Maryborough floods as heavy rain hits Fraser Coast

Storms and torrential rain overnight on Monday delivered more than 60mm to parts of the Fraser Coast, but the localised flooding caught on video in Maryborough was something else.
The rain, which started just after sunset, lasted throughout the night with the Maryborough suburb of Portside receiving the highest amount of rain with 63mm, and the official recording for Maryborough 42.6mm on Monday and 49.2mm on Tuesday.
Flash flooding in Bazaar and Albert Sts was caught on video.
A Fraser Coast Regional Council spokesman said council workers had inspected the drainage systems on both streets on Tuesday morning and found no damage to either.

“Council would like to remind residents to be careful on the roads during heavy rain,” they said.
“If it’s flooded, forget it.”
The region’s two weirs also received heavy rain, with Teddington receiving 23mm and the Lenthall Dam 7mm.
The SES responded to 12 call-outs though there were no reports of swift water rescues.
