Man bitten by snake on Fraser Island (K’gari)

A holiday maker’s trip to Fraser Island has taken a bad turn after he was bitten by a snake in the early hours of the morning.

A drone enthusiast’s early morning adventure has ended painfully after he was bitten by a snake at Fraser Island in the early hours of Saturday morning.

An RACQ LifeFlight spokeswoman said the man, in his 20s, had been flying the device in the on the eastern side of the island about 7am.

He was walking towards the machine to pick it up when he was bitten.

Helicopter staff and QAS paramedics treated the man at the scene before loading him onto the nearby helicopter and flying him to Hervey Bay Hospital for further treatment.

The spokeswoman said he did not show any signs of being affected by venom and the species of snake was unknown.
