Looking back at the Fraser Coast’s 2020 formal celebrations

As schools across the region start to celebrate their formals, we look back at the 2020 celebrations.

As this year’s formal season gets underway, it’s a good time to look back at last year’s celebrations.

With Xavier Catholic College, St Mary’s College and Maryborough State High School having held this year’s formals and Fraser Coast Anglican College to follow in coming weeks, here’s a look back on the glitz and glamour from schools across the region last year.

St Mary’s College 2020

Two semi-trailers, horse-drawn carriages and plenty of classic cars.

This is how the Year 12 students of St Mary‘s College arrived at their 2020 formal in style.

In a Covid world, it was never going to be totally traditional.

But the changes forced by social distancing made the start of the night even more special, as each of the students had their own moment in the spotlight upon arrival.

Hervey Bay State High School

Students from Hervey Bay High School gathered at the Waterfront Restaurant in Urangan to celebrate their 2020 formal.

The students were dressed to the nines and arrived in an array of classic cars, a Kombi van, a semi trailer and a limousine.

Fraser Coast Anglican College

Arriving in a mix of classic cars and flashy modern vehicles, the students of Fraser Coast Anglican College were ready for a night of glitz and glamour at their formal in 2020.

Each student walked the red carpet and took to the stage for a quick interview before enjoying a night of fun inside the Hervey Bay Boat Club.

St James Lutheran College

The students of St James Lutheran College had a ball at the elegant event at The Oaks in Hervey Bay.

Aldridge State High School

The students of Aldridge State High School celebrated their formal in 2020 with Covid safety in mind.

The event was held on school grounds with social distancing measures in place due to the pandemic.

Maryborough State High School

The students of Maryborough State High School celebrated their formal in 2020 with arrivals at their school.

It was then followed by dinner at the Brolga Theatre.

Xavier Catholic College

The students of Xavier Catholic College enjoyed a glamorous evening at the Oaks, Hervey Bay.

Bayside Christian College

Bayside Christian College celebrated their formal at the Waterfront Restaurant in Urangan.

Urangan State High School

The students of Urangan State School walked the red carpet at their school grounds before celebrating their formal.

Looking elegant, the students were welcomed with a special announcement before celebrating the final event of their school lives.

Hervey Bay Special School

Celebrating their end of year formal, the students of Hervey Bay Special School enjoyed a dinner at the Hervey Bay RSL.

Riverside Christian College

Riverside Christian College students also celebrated in style.
