A teenager is being treated in hospital after he was bitten on the hand by a goanna on K’gari.
The 19-year-old man suffered deep lacerations to his right hand when the goanna bit him at a Happy Valley resort about 2.30pm on Sunday, an ambulance spokesperson said.
The teenager was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital, firstly by boat across the strait and then by ambulance.
He was in a stable condition.
It follows a recent spate of dingo attacks on the island that forced the shutdown of certain campsites until December.
