Swim for a Cure is a nationwide swimming fundraiser supporting vital cancer research, running throughout March 2025.

Participants can choose their own swimming distance and complete it in the pool or open water, raising essential funds for cancer research.

Ms Stephens, who at 21 has already competed in two Paralympics, said she was incredibly honoured to be an ambassador for the Cure Cancer fundraiser.

“Cancer has deeply impacted my family, my sister, aunt, and nana have all faced this disease with incredible strength, resilience, and courage,” she said.

“Watching them fight through the toughest moments has inspired me more than words can say.

“Their battles have taught me the power of determination, strength and the importance of hope.

“That’s why I’m diving in, not just for them, but for everyone who has fought, is fighting, and will fight this battle.

“By participating in this amazing cause, I hope to inspire others, support lifesaving research, and make a real difference in the fight against cancer.

“Together, we can make a difference.”

Ms Stephens won two bronze medals in swimming events at the Tokyo Paralympics.

Then last year at the Paris Paralympics she won a gold medal in the mixed medley relay as a heat swimmer.

Registrations are now open for Swim for a Cure.

Whether swimming solo or forming a crew with family, friends, or colleagues, everyone can choose the swimming distance that suits them. Participants can easily fundraise through the campaign’s online platform, helping to raise funds for cancer research.
