Granville Bridge repair begins following 2022 floods in Maryborough

Work will soon begin on a major Maryborough bridge damaged in the 2022 floods.
Thousands of people were isolated after the Granville Bridge went underwater as the Mary River rose above the major flood level of 9m.
The balustrade and safety rails were damaged during the January floods.
But the bridge was closed for a second time in March after heavy rain again hit the region, leading to the second major flood in the space of just six weeks.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads will complete the work at night, with the traffic lanes to be reduced on the bridge while work is underway.
Motorists can expect minor delays and there will be no access to the footpath across the bridge of a night.
One lane of the bridge will remain open with traffic control in place.
Ergon will also work to restore lighting across the bridge, which was also damaged during the floods.
The work will begin on August 23 and will is expected to take two weeks to complete.
Work will be carried out between 8pm and 5am from Sunday to Thursday.
