From princesses to superheroes, thousands gathered at Maryborough State High School for this year’s FraserPop Festival.
The event is a two-day celebration of pop culture, games and gaming, cosplay and more.
This year’s program included wrestling matches, jousting, lightsaber academy events and a meet-and-greet with The Matrix and Star Wars star, Matt Doran.
Maryborough State High School Principal Simon Done said the festival started in 2017 and was run by staff and students completing a Certificate III in Business.
“It’s been a fantastic turn out, we’re back to what I would call ‘pre-pandemic’ levels,” he said.
“We were obviously Covid affected like every festival was this time last year, but the feel and the vibe in the place is we are very much back to what we were … we’re back in the thousands again.”
Mr Hone said the festival had been six months in the making, with planning already underway for 2023.
“It will get bigger again next year, just based on the success again of what we’ve done this year, because now we’ve sort of got our factory settings back post-Covid, so now we’ll start building again and again … so onwards and upwards,” he said.
FraserPop runs for Saturday, July 16 and Sunday July 17 from 10am to 4pm at Maryborough State High School.
