A funeral will be held for the beloved bass player from popular Fraser Coast band Uncle Arthur this week after his sudden death last month.

Benjamin Zemcevicius, who was in his 30s, is understood to have died following a medical episode on April 26.

Fellow performer Keri McInerney described him as a” a lovely guy” in a touching tribute shared online.

“Way too young to leave,” she wrote.

“Very, very sad news.

“Thinking of the Uncle Arthur band, Richie, Leanne, Witty and all who knew and loved Ben.

“My sincerest love to you guys.”

A GoFundMe page has been started to help Mr Zemcevicius’ family in the wake of his death.

“It’s with shattered hearts that we have lost not only an uncle, but also a husband, a son, a brother, a best friend, a cousin, a father figure, a fur baby daddy, an amazing musician and everything in between,” a post on the page read.

“Words do not come close to explaining the loss felt, but as we know, his wife, along with all of the family and friends that need the most support and love right now.

“If you can contribute in any way towards his funeral, it would be most appreciated.”

So far more than $5500 has been raised to help pay for the funeral.

Mr Zemcevicius’ family member, Katelyn-Anne Fox, also posted a tribute online.

“In a matter of seconds, hours the world as you know it can just turn upside down, sideways and on fire,” she said.

“This is still so raw for us and to be honest, unbelievable and still unable to be processed.

“Like this can’t happen to you or us.

“It’s like you are just out at a gig and coming home soon.

“Like you will walk through the door any second.”

His funeral will be held at the Orana Chapel at J Kirk & Son’s Crematorium on May 12 from 10am.

It is the second time in recent months that the Fraser Coast’s live music scene has been plunged into mourning.

In September last year, Bobby Barnes, 50, a former member of popular Fraser Coast band Red Betty, was reported missing to police by his family after they were unable to contact him.

Mr Barnes was remembered as a loving father and gifted musician.

His sister Tracie Alexander, with whom he formed Red Betty alongside her husband Wayne, spoke through tears at his funeral about her big-hearted brother.

“He was just a genuine good guy,” Ms Alexander said.

“Respected as a musician and a friend.”
