Former Red Betty Singer Bobby Barnes’ funeral details released
The community has rallied behind the family of a beloved Fraser Coast musician, whose funeral is set to be attended by hundreds of people in Maryborough.

A funeral will be held this week for a beloved Maryborough father and musician who was found dead days after being reported missing by his family, with hundreds of people expected to gather to mourn his loss.
Bobby Barnes, 50, a former member of popular Fraser Coast band Red Betty, was reported missing to police by his family late last month after they were unable to contact him.
Tragically, on September 25, the father of two was found dead, sparking an outpouring of grief from the community.
Police confirmed Mr Barnes had been found deceased, with no suspicious circumstances.
Posting to Red Betty’s Facebook page, his sister Tracie Alexander shared the devastating news with friends, family and loyal fans.
“It breaks our hearts to share with you the news that Bobby is no longer with us,” the post read.
“There’s no more suffering with the hurt he was going through.
“Thank you to each and every one of you for all your support during this time, I know the love that every one of you felt for him and we appreciate each and every one of you.”
A funeral will be held for Mr Barnes on October 7 at Life Church at 68 Gayndah Rd, Maryborough from 11am.
In the days since his death, the community has thrown its support behind Mr Barnes’ family, including raising thousands of dollars for a Go Fund Me campaign to give him the send off he deserved.
More than $12,700 has been raised so far.
The loss of Mr Barnes has been met with an outpouring of grief from the community.
Fellow Fraser Coast musician Frank Benn said he was sending his love to his family.
Michele Hansen spoke of Mr Barnes’ “wonderful, powerful voice”.
Carol Welch said her thoughts were with his family and friends.
“I spent many an evening enjoying his amazing talent,” she said.
