An incredibly passionate individual with 16 years’ experience in the industry who has helped provide children with confidence has won the best childcare educator on the Fraser Coast.

Kasey Green, of Granville Community Kindergarten, said children learnt best when they knew that their teachers gave them full attention.

This publication held a Fraser Coast reader-led vote for the best childcare educator in the region and Ms Green won top gong.

“I feel that children learn best when they feel safe, secure and when they know that their teacher cares about them,” Ms Green said.

Ange Raguse was voted second place, Danielle Askew third place, Sophie McGowan fourth place and Katie McCulloch of Carramar Community Kindergarten fifth place.

Ms Green, 41, said seeing the children achieve and build their confidence was rewarding.

“It’s an honor to have this sort of award but I do know that it’s a whole team that has contributed to it so I’m very lucky to be a part of such a team,” Ms Green said.

“I feel that I’m most passionate about providing children with a positive and enriching early education experience, developing a love of learning prior to entering formal schooling.

“I enjoy connecting with the children, their families and supporting them in their transition to school, but I also think that it’s important to be a part of a good team.”

Ms Green is also the director at Granville Community Kindergarten and is completing a Masters degree in Speech Pathology to assist in her role at the kindergarten to develop children’s speech and language skills.

“I am so lucky to be a part of a very experienced team of educators that work hard to build relationships with children and their families to allow them to be the absolute best they can be,” she said.

“We have a wonderful teaching team and a fantastic committee of parents that prioritise children’s needs before profits, which we feel is exactly how early childhood should be.”

The mother of 21-year-old twin daughters, Ms Green said her own children were completing their studies to work in the childcare industry.

“One of my daughters is in her last year studying to be an occupational therapist and wants to work with children and my other twin daughter is studying to do counselling and psychology and wants to work with children as well,” Ms Green said.
