The bridge over Beelbi Creek now has a one per cent likelihood of being flooded in any given year.

Road safety improvements have also been undertaken with intersection upgrades now complete at the Churchill Mine Rd, Antill Rd, Grabbes Rd and Gear Rd intersections.

Regional Development Assistant Minister Bruce Saunders said flood immunity and safety improvements along that stretch of road were vital as the region continued to grow.

“We want better, safer connections and easier freight access across our region and the various upgrades along Torbanlea–Pialba Rd will do just that,” he said.

“It’s fantastic to see the Beelbi Creek bridge open to traffic; I look forward to see further upgrades reach completion in the months to come.”

Works to upgrade the Torbanlea–Pialba Rd and Old Toogoom Rd intersection are continuing, with Old Toogoom Rd to be closed between Torbanlea–Pialba Rd and Toogoom Rd to enable those works to be completed as quickly and safely as possible.
