Fair Haven thanks volunteers

VOLUNTEERS at Churches of Christ Care Fair Haven Aged Care Service Maryborough and Hervey Bay will be the guests of honour at special luncheons.

VOLUNTEERS at Churches of Christ Care Fair Haven Aged Care Service Maryborough and Hervey Bay will be the guests of honour at special luncheons over the next two days to say thank you for their dedicated and tireless efforts in sharing their lives and time with the community.

National Volunteer Week which runs through to this coming Sunday, provides an opportunity to highlight the role of volunteers in our communities and to say thank you to the millions of Australians who volunteer each year.

Maryborough's service manager Cherylee Baker said their volunteers played an important role at the service, and this was one way of thanking them for their contribution.

"Our volunteers help out in a variety of ways and each volunteer contributes to enriching the lives of our residents," Ms Baker said.

"They assist with bus outings, activities, transport, meal times, and by providing companionship to residents.

"The luncheon is a small way to say thank you to each one of them and will include the presentation of a certificate of appreciation and gift bag for each volunteer."

"Volunteers are vitally important to us, and we are always looking for more people who may be able to give a few hours of their time, even if it is only once a month. It makes such a difference to the lives of our residents and our current volunteers find it very rewarding as well."

Churches of Christ Care has more than 600 volunteers across Queensland who assist in early childhood, child protection, affordable housing, retirement living, community aged care and residential aged care services.
