Two Hervey Bay residents have walked away from Saturday’s Gold Lotto division one draw $546,000 richer, with the hunt on for one of the lucky players who is yet to claim their prize.
The mystery winner bought their ticket at the Nextra Fraser Gateway Newsagency at the Stockland Shopping Centre at 6 Central Ave, Urraween.
The newsagency’s manager Kylie Bromhead, who has touted her business as “the luckiest store in the area”, said she was excited to hear her outlet had sold another division one winning entry.
“I had to rush back to the shop early in the morning to prepare celebration materials and share the news with the community,” she said.
“The last time we sold a division one winning entry was in August 2024 and we’re so excited to have sold another one.”
It is the store’s fifth major lottery prize in less than two years, and Ms Bromhead is hoping the winner will come forward soon to claim their new found fortune.
“We can’t wait for our mystery division one winner to check their ticket. I’m sure they’ll be over the moon when they discover their news.”
The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell also said she hoped the region’s latest division one winner checked their ticket and came forward soon.
“Whoever is holding this golden ticket may have no idea they’re about to end the financial year with $546,000 in the bank,” she said.
A Urraween man, who purchased his ticket via The Lott app, said the win was “a nice surprise to start the week”.
“It’s unbelievable – to beat the odds and win division one,” he said.
“I’m just about to head off to work. It will be hard to focus at work today.”
