Dozens watch on as crews fight Maryborough boat fire

Dozens of people watched on as fire crews fought the blaze from the shore.

Emergency crews raced to the scene of a boat fire on the Mary River at Maryborough on Tuesday.

The fire started about 4.10pm, with fire crews forced to fight the flames from the shore near Maryborough Sailing Club.

Crews accessed the scene via Walker St near the Brolga Theatre.

Two crews remained at the scene by 6pm, with the fire under control after the boat was secured to the bank.

When crews arrived the timber boat, about 10m in length, was well alight.

Paramedics attended the scene but were not needed.

Dozens of people watched on from nearby Queens Park as crews fought the blaze.
