A 19-year-old Hervey Bay man lost his brave battle on Sunday after being left in a critical condition as a result of a horror crash in Urangan.
Tributes have flowed for young father Chris “Chrisso” Sorensen, who died in hospital after the crash on September 22.
Hervey Bay mechanic Matthew Rieck, 26, and his younger brother Mr Sorensen both suffered life-threatening injuries when the car they were travelling in smashed into the wall and fence on Elizabeth St in the early hours of the morning.
Another passenger – a 22-year-old female – was also rushed to hospital in a serious condition.
Mr Sorensen’s mother Melissa Hobson posted a moving tribute to her son on social media.
“You sure did leave your footprints on people’s hearts Chrisso,” she wrote.
“The support and kind words about you are nothing short of amazing.
“My boy with the golden heart.”
In another post, she wrote “I love you more than life and to no end”.
“I miss you and will always miss you.
“Last night as we drove home from the hospital Brendan and I saw a falling star.
“I believe that was a sign from you letting us know that you are OK.
“You are my brightest star in the darkest sky.
“Wherever I go I know you will always be with me.
“Just promise me to continue to watch over your siblings as they need your guiding light.
“You’ll always be #forever19.”
