Community rallies behind family after death of Hayden Kerr

A funeral date has been announced for a 17-year-old Hayden Kerr who was tragically killed in a crash near Maryborough earlier this month.

A funeral date has been announced for a 17-year-old who was tragically killed in a crash on the Fraser Coast earlier this month.

Maryborough’s Hogan family has been devastated by the loss of 17-year-old son Hayden Kerr in a single vehicle crash at Thinoomba on September 2, 2023.

Police said the white Nissan Patrol was travelling east on Maryborough Biggenden Rd at Thinoomba at 6.55pm that Saturday, when it left the road and hit a number of trees near the intersection with Geysing Rd.

A GoFundMe page, started by Tobey Pehi in the wake of the crash, had raised more than $6700 by Thursday morning.

“We are writing to you today with heavy hearts to share the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of Hayden, a vibrant young soul who was just starting to embark on the journey of life at the tender age of 17,” a post on the GoFundMe page read.

“Hayden’s zest for life was truly inspiring with his infectious smile.

“He touched the lives of all who knew him.

“As we come to terms with this devastating loss, we cannot begin to comprehend the shock and disbelief that Hayden‘s family – Tammy, Sean, and Nate – are experiencing.

“They are a good, hardworking family who find themselves in the midst of an unimaginable tragedy.

“Losing a child is an indescribable pain that no parent should ever have to bear.

“During this incredibly challenging time, we believe it is our duty as a compassionate community to come together and support Hayden’s family in any way we can.

“We have created this GoFundMe to help alleviate the financial burdens that Tammy, Sean and Nate now face.

“By contributing you can help ensure that they have the necessary funds to give Hayden the proper farewell he deserves, allowing them to grieve and heal without the added stress of financial strain.

“No amount is too small, and every contribution will make a significant impact on this family’s ability to properly say goodbye to their beloved son and big brother.

A funeral will be held for Hayden on September 22 at 2pm at the Orana Chapel at Hervey Bay Crematorium.
