Classroom of students at Maryborough’s Parke State School evacuated

A classroom of students have been evacuated at a Queensland school over safety concerns regarding one of the children’s behaviour.

A classroom was evacuated at a Maryborough primary school on Tuesday out of concern for the safety of students.

A source informed the Chronicle a “code purple” had been called at Parke State School in relation to the behaviour of one of the students.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Education said like all Queensland state schools, Parke State School held the safety of its students and staff as its highest priority.

“The department is aware of a behaviour incident which occurred on February 21,” she said.

“As a precaution, the school evacuated the classroom to ensure the safety of students.

“No students or staff were harmed, no weapons were involved and no assistance was required from emergency services.

“The incident is being managed in line with the school’s Student Code of Conduct.

“Guidance officer support is available at the school for any students who may require it.”
