A new school has been proposed for Maryborough, with the development being planned by Carinity Education, the organisation behind Glendyne in Hervey Bay.
At its schools across Queensland, Carinity Education provides an option for students who struggle within the framework of mainstream schools.
Glendyne offers alternative education, including for at-risk and troubled young people, and it is envisaged the Maryborough campus, if it was approved, will do the same.
Carinity Education’s Brett Maunder said there was currently a waiting list of about 30 students wanting to attend Glendyne.
The campus at Maryborough would provide an additional 80 spaces for new students if it was approved, he said.
The school would be built at the corner of Gympie and Iindah Road in Tinana.
A development permit is currently being sought from the Fraser Coast Regional Council by Carinity Education.
Public submissions are currently open and will be accepted until December 8.
