“Far beyond when our eyes are closed.

“Yesterday, our family lost our patriarch, my dearest Dad, Norm McLean and he left this world where he ruled as king of the McLean clan with no words unsaid and a heart full of joy for his loved ones.

“In a sense we were lucky to know that his time was near, so that we all could share with him, just how much he meant to every one of us who loved him so.

“I will miss him dearly till the day that I myself return to the earth but I will never regret lost chances to let him know how I felt about him and I will continue on in his memory to let my loved ones know just how precious they are to me, while we are standing face-to-face and even if I could have, I could have chose no better.”

The announcement of Mr McLean’s death was made via a post on the Susan River Homestead Facebook page.

“It is with a very heavy heart that we have to say our beautiful dad (and) grandfather Norm passed away this afternoon,” it read.

“Thankfully we got him home and he was surrounded by loved ones and his little mate Buster.

“We want to thank you for all your kind words over the past 48 hours, we will cherish them forever.

“We thank you for your understanding at this time.”

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour also paid tribute.

“Norm McLean was a unique individual, a character, a gentleman and a friend to many,” he said.

“He will be missed.”

A funeral will be held for Mr McLean on March 7 at the Brolga Theatre from 11am.
