AN AUSTRALIAN stunt performer is in a Thai hospital recovering from serious injuries after a stunt went wrong on the set of a major movie.

Queensland-raised stunt driver Scott McLean, who in 2007 described himself as close to Australia's top 10 stunt drivers, is understood to be in a coma after an accident on December 17 while performing a stunt on the set of The Hangover Part II, starring Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms.

Reports suggest two cars travelling at high speed crashed into each other in Bangkok as part of the stunt, leaving McLean with serious injuries.
