A huge $59m new Bunnings store in Hervey Bay will open in time for Christmas.
The multimillion-dollar development on Main and McLiver Sts at Pialba has nearly finished being built, and is right next door to the existing store on Boat Harbour Dr.
As revealed in the development application, the new store will feature a warehouse, outdoor nursery, landscape and material yard, trade yard, cafe and more than 460 car park spaces.
The store is one of 15 new developments coming to the Fraser Coast.
Bunnings area manager Annabelle Fawkes-Jones confirmed the new Hervey Bay store will open to the community pre-Christmas.
“The existing store in Boat Harbour Drive will close the evening before the new store opens,” Ms Fawkes-Jones said.
“The new store represents an investment of around $59m, and we expect to create approximately 80 new team members jobs to add to the existing 200 team members currently employed.
“We look forward to welcoming customers in to the new store, and will continue to keep the community updated as we near closer to the opening.”
The iconic Bunnings signage has been put up, and finishing touches are being added to the massive development which has been years in the making.
The new store will also have a retail area about 5000 sqm larger than the current store, reaching more than 17,000 sqm in floor space.
