Barrel N Vine Italian restaurant replaces Soprano’s Restaurant in Hervey Bay
A hospitality couple with experience running restaurants at Bribie Island and the Sunshine Coast has taken over a Hervey Bay Esplanade dining space and plans to offer everything from exclusive wines to house made salami.

Hervey Bay’s newest Italian restaurant has opened to food lovers.
The new eatery, which will feature Italian classics such as Arancini, homemade salami and exclusive foreign wines is located next to the Beach Motel in the building that once housed the Playa Concha and has since been home to Seaside Cafe and Restaurant, the Tangy Pickle and most recently Soprano’s Restaurant and Bar.
Barrel N Vine is the brainchild of Joe and Rachael Nocera who moved to the Fraser Coast 18 months ago along with their eight-year-old daughter Stella.
The restaurant is not the couple’s first venture into the hospitality sector.
They previously operated Ignite by Dockside and Seasar’s Seafood on Bribie Island as well as Dock N Dine on the Sunshine Coast.
Mr Nocera, who is the head chef, said his passion for fine dining” came from growing up in the kitchen surrounded by “my mother’s and Nonna’s wonderful cooking.”
A childhood surrounded by fine food harnessed his “love and appreciation for cooking”.
“I have been cooking pasta, gnocchi, and salami since the age of 8,” he said
The couple promises a menu with ingredients “straight from the heart of Italy”.
“We have wines that you would not be able to find anywhere else,” Mrs Nocera said.
“You cannot just find them at Dan Murphy’s.”
Touched by the feedback” from the Fraser Coast community, the couple believe the building was “waiting for them” and when it became available “they just had to snap it up.”
With a soft launch for 40 diners on Thursday proving successful, the couple plans to offer five dinners a week, Thursday to Monday, along with three lunches.
The restaurant will also make use of the upstairs function space which can be booked for local events.
