Car and boat ‘completely destroyed’ by Booral garage fire

A local Booral husband and wife have lost their car and boat after a fire started within their external garage mid-Saturday morning.

UPDATE

The two occupants of the Booral home are said to be husband and wife.

The husband, who received medical treatment earlier during the fire following an unrelated medical incident, is now recovering.

The fire is not being considered suspicious.

A battery charging within the car had caused the fire, which spread to the boat, also in the garage.

The car and boat have both been completely destroyed, however, the garage has not been significantly damaged.

Firies left the scene at about 11.30am, while police left the scene at about 12.30pm.

EARLIER

A car and boat have gone up in flames in Booral this morning.

Emergency crews have said the car and boat were sitting in a garage, before it caught alight.

The garage is detached from a local’s house located on Sandrabarbara Drive.

Ambulance were called to the scene at 10.03am, before firies sent three crews en route at about 10.17am.

Emergency services managed to get the fire under control by about 10.43am.

The house was not affected by the flames.

However, smoke from flames below have filled the house.

Firies are currently ventilating the house for health and safety.

Paramedics are assessing one patient with medical issues unrelated to the fire.
