Bolton Clarke Chelsea in Maryborough closes doors after close Covid contact
A close Covid contact has forced the cancellation of a Fraser Coast New Year’s Eve celebration and a Maryborough aged care community has temporarily close its doors as Queensland recorded more than 2200 new cases of the virus.

Maryborough Cricket Club has been forced to cancel its annual New Year’s Eve celebrations and close the venue for six days after a Covid contact.
A post on the venue’s Facebook page confirmed the news.
It said the club had been directed by Queensland Health to close until January 6.
Anyone who had been at the club since December 24 was asked to get tested.
It comes after a Maryborough aged care community temporarily closed its doors due to a close Covid contact.
Bolton Clarke Chelsea in Maryborough’s Tooley St was at the centre of a Covid scare this week.
A spokeswoman confirmed the report on Thursday.
“Our Chelsea residential aged care community is temporarily closed to visitors based on Queensland Health advice,” she said.
“This is a precautionary measure while Covid-19 testing is undertaken on a potential close contact.
“We are monitoring our residents’ health very carefully and all residents remain well.
“We will continue to keep residents and families updated as more information becomes available.”
It comes after an aged care worker at Kepnock Grove Retirement Centre tested positive to Covid just before Christmas.
It is understood there are currently 19 active Covid cases on the Fraser Coast.
With Queensland Health focusing on contact tracing for major exposure sites, many regional areas have started creating their own groups.
The Hervey Bay/Maryborough COVID Contact Tracing Group already has 388 members after being formed earlier this week as concerned communities take matters into their own hands.
Bundaberg continues to grapple with a Covid outbreak stemming from an exposure on December 18 when an infectious person visited the Club Hotel and Central Hotel.
Queensland has recorded 2222 new Covid cases on Thursday, with warnings ten of thousands will follow within weeks.
