A local bakery is serving up drool-worthy doughnuts, with people “driving hours” to satisfy their sweet tooth.
Arriving on the scene earlier this year, Windmill bakery – located at Eli Waters shopping centre – is making its mark on the foodie scene.
Freshly-made every morning by Windmill’s Baker Melissa Krisanski, the flavours are switched up continuously, with Melissa staying up to create new delicious ideas and designs.
Windmill Manager Kiara Kirk told the Chronicle the doughnuts, which rival those scene at Instagram favourites Kenilworth Bakery and Brisbane’s Eat Street, were “a big hit”.
“Customers love them, because there‘s not many doughnut places around here … we try and make a mixture every day of what doughnuts we have … we don’t want the same thing all the time,” Kiara said.
“People have seen us through our social media, as well, which is great because people who don’t live around Eli Waters can see what we have … people have even told us they’ve come from two hours away for them.”
The doughnuts are $5 each, four for $15 or, six for $20.
The three bestsellers are:
- Bee-sting – custard and cream mixed, almonds on top.
- Nutella-filled – plain doughnut with a Nutella-filled centre.
- Fresh cream and jam – a hit for those who don’t favour mock-cream.
But, you’ll have to go try them yourself to find your favourite flavour.
