New digs: Fried chicken favourite’s motel move

A popular cafe has relocated and you can now enjoy a beer or wine with your comfort-food cook-up.

Crunchy Fried Chicken has a new home.

If you haven’t noticed by now, Crunchy Fried Chicken has left 1/322 Esplanade at Scarness.

But, don’t worry, it hasn’t left town.

You can still get the freshly made chicken goods just down the road and now, you can have a coffee or enjoy a beer or wine with your comfort-food cook-up.

The popular eatery owned by P&Ds takeaway has relocated to the lower level of the motel at 296 the Esplanade, Pialba.

Deb hopes the new restaurant will allow customers to feel more welcomed in an airconditioned space along the Esplanade.

Crunchy Fried Chicken co-owner Deb Clark told the Chronicle she wanted to expand the business and what it could offer locals.

“We decided we couldn‘t expand much (at our previous location) because of the small kitchen,” Deb told the Chronicle.

“So, the offer came up to come up to the cafe, I could expand my menu and offer a dine-in, airconditioned, licensed venue for (customers) to come and enjoy the crunchy chicken or other food items that I added to my menu.

“We also offer coffee now as a cafe, so that’s a new twist to it.”

The classic mixed meal deal is now available for dine-in experience at Crunchy Fried Chicken.

Expanding from takeaway only, Deb said the move also helped make Crunchy Fried Chicken more “friendly”, pleasing a “larger clientele”.

“Me being a property chef ... I do all my own everything homemade, I don’t buy any processed sauces or anything ... It’s all homemade,” Deb said.

Deb’s husband Peter Clark helped push the move, as he knew the duo could give more to the community.

“He was the one who encouraged me because he knew that we could do bigger, better things,” Deb told the Chronicle.

“So, we’d love everyone to come and try out the new restaurant.”
