Watch: Maryborough State Highschool Formal Arrivals 2022

Aerial imagery has revealed the remarkable difference a decade can make, with new photographs taken from above showing how some of the Fraser Coast’s most popular schools have changed in the past 10 years.

The photographs, captured by aerial image company Nearmap, show the changes many Fraser Coast schools have undergone as the region’s population continues to grow.

According to Census data, the Fraser Coast’s population has increased by 9.4 per cent since 2016, hitting the 111,032 mark in 2021.

Given the surge in population, a number of schools in Maryborough and Hervey Bay have undergone huge upgrades in recent years.

It was announced in the 2022-2023 Queensland state budget that Urangan State School would receive $5.1m in funding for a new hall, which was part of a larger $40.2m investment into improving and upgrading education services for schools in the Wide Bay.

In recent years, Hervey Bay State High School received $5.94m in funding to build a new classroom block, while Kawungan State School received $550,000 for administration block upgrades.

Maryborough State High School also received a $6m upgrade.

Nearmap provides government organisations, architectural, construction and engineering firms, and other companies, with easy, instant access to high resolution aerial imagery, city-scale 3D content, artificial intelligence data sets, and geospatial tools to assist with urban planning, monitoring and development projects in Australia, New Zealand, and North America.
