Schools across the Fraser Coast will be receiving upgrades over the next two months.

The projects will happen across three schools over May and June, as the works total to $6.86 million.

The contracts for the upgrades to take place, were awarded in March and April 2021, as part of the Palaszczuk Government’s multimillion-dollar Budget action plan for the Fraser Coast.

A $5.94 million two-storey classroom block is planned to be built at Hervey Bay State High School, while Kawungan State School receives a $550,000 administration block upgrade.

Pialba State School will also be revamped, as $374,000 will go to refurbishing an existing teaching block at the school.

Member for Hervey Bay Adrian Tantari said school infrastructure is a “central element” in economic recovery.

“These come on top of the recently completed $11 million performing arts Centre at Hervey Bay State High,” Mr Tantari said.

“These new projects are just a fraction of the projects underway as part of our $1.9 billion education statewide infrastructure spend in the current budget, supporting 4800 jobs.”
