A funeral will be held for Hervey Bay murder victim, Craignish Country Club owner Gregory Harding, on Friday.
Mr Harding was found dead about 8am at his caretaker’s cottage on the grounds of the golf club on August 16.
Police allege he was killed by a close-range gunshot wound between 10pm and 11pm on August 15.
Two men have been charged and police believe a car used in a ram raid at Hervey Bay’s Stockland shopping centre earlier that evening is linked to Mr Harding’s death.
Anthony Turner, who has lived in the neighbouring suburb of Dundowran for years and often stop at the country club for a drink, paid tribute to Mr Harding.
Working at Channel 10, he handled Mr Harding’s advertising account and organised an event at the venue.
“He was a lovely guy,” Mr Turner said.
“When you got to know him, he was a good bloke at heart.”
Fraser Coast Councillor Denis Chapman said he had known Mr Harding for a long time.
“I knew Greg when he first bought the place,” he said.
“I always found him approachable and very nice to talk to.”
His funeral will be held at the Orana Chapel at J Kirk and Son’s Hervey Bay Crematorium at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the RSPCA would be preferred at the request of the family.
A livestream of the funeral will be provided for those who can’t attend.
