Two people have died after a three-car crash on the D’Aguilar Highway in Moreton Bay, north of Brisbane, on Saturday.
Police investigations found that a grey Ford Ranger hit a Mazda CX-5, which caused it to then collide with a Nissan Micra, just after 5pm.
The driver of the Mazda, a 29-year-old man from Deception Bay, and a passenger in the Ford Ranger, a 24-year-old Caboolture man, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Ranger, a 51-year-old Caboolture woman, was flown to the Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the Nissan Micra, a 25-year-old woman from Clayfield, was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s hospital with serious leg injuries.
The other passenger of the Ford Ranger, a 43-year-old man from Caboolture was also taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s hospital in a serious condition with injuries to his abdomen.
Investigations into the crash are continuing.
Meanwhile, Ali King, state Member for Pumicestone, which includes Bribie Island, Caboolture and surrounds, acknowledged the “tragic day” for her electorate.
Earlier in the day a 25-year-old man was flown to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital after a freak accident on the beach at Bribie Island.
“As most of us are turning our minds to Christmas, it’s also been a tragic day in our communities,” she wrote on Facebook.
“I know we’re all thinking of the people involved in today’s terrible crash at Caboolture, as well as the young man seriously injured on the beach at Bribie.”
She expressed gratitude to the emergency services involved in responding to the incidents.
“We’re so grateful to you all.”
