There are fears for the unaccounted for occupant of a Boondall house that went up in flames overnight, as authorities investigate its cause.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said one patient was treated in a critical condition at the scene but was not taken to hospital.

A police spokesman said a crime scene had been declared at the property on the corner of Kingstown Ave and Cardinal St as they render the area safe and investigate the cause, but it is not being treated as suspicious.

Fire crews received multiple reports of the fire at 3.15am with three crews dispatched who found the two-storey home “well involved”, according to a QFES spokesman.

He said the fire was under control by 4.15am and the Fire Investigation Unit was marked to attend the scene at some point on Wednesday.

There was still one crew on scene at 6.16am after the fire had been completely extinguished.

A QPS statement said work will commence Wednesday morning to stabilise the structure and allow investigators to process the scene.
