Family, friends mourn Dion Gundy, killed in car crash at Bray Park
FRIENDS and family have paid tribute to a young man who died in a high-speed crash in Brisbane’s north on Friday night that also left three others fighting for life.

FRIENDS and family of a young man who died in a high-speed crash in Brisbane’s north on Friday night say they will miss his smile that “lit up every room”.
Dion Gundy, 23, was in the front passenger seat of the car after a party on Friday night.
Just after 11.30pm, the car mounted a footpath before crashing into a palm tree at a home on Samsonvale Rd at Bray Park, killing him and leaving the three other people — two men and one woman — fighting for life.
His aunty, Leeanne Button Gundy, supplied The Sunday Mail with a photo and described her nephew as “cheeky, funny, smart and very talented at sports”.
“The big smile on his face with his pearly perfect white teeth lit up every room, he will be very missed by all the family,” she said.
“RIP my nephew, fly high see you in the dreamtime.”
Singer and songwriter Emily Wurramara took to Facebook after hearing the news, writing: “We’ve lost a warrior, a fighter, a fierce MAN”.
“My brother Dion Gundy, I love you so much and your memories live on with us.
“My heart is with everyone who is hurting today. All my love and prayers are with everyone on this very sad day.”
Neighbours spoke about the horror scenes that occurred on their street, with smoke billowing from the car and screams for help from the young woman in the back seat.
One neighbour, Lisa Livingstone-Kameta, said the owners of the property that the car smashed into were away on school holidays.
“We were upstairs and the whole house shook, we just heard the bang and we came flying downstairs and there was smoke coming out of the car,” she said.
“We ran up trying to get as much stuff off the car as possible but there was a tree on top of it.
“I just feel sad. Four families are getting the phone call that one hasn’t survived and the others are in a critical condition.
“There was a few of us neighbours that came out and everyone was really upset.”
