Ekka 2023: The insane new ride at this year’s Royal Queensland Show

Taylah Tries (Ekka Edition) The Joker

A thrilling new ride with 360 degree rotations, reaching 25m into the air will join a host of other new rides at this year’s Royal Queensland Show.

The Joker, an extreme new ride that is definitely not for the faint hearted, will not only make its Ekka debut but also its Queensland one.

Joker manager Adam Baldacchino said the ride would have people coming back for more.

“It offers a totally unique and different sensation that’s ever been offered in a travelling amusement ride in the country,” he said.

“It’s different and it’s more-ish. It will have people coming back for more.”

Mr Baldacchino said the ride gives you a feeling of weightlessness as it swings up and the seat rotations slow down.

But it isn’t the only new ride at the Ekka this year.

Another new one is the Beach Party. which is family-friendly during the day but at night the speed gets turned up and it becomes an extreme thrill.

The ride transports people tto the beach with bright lights, fun music and octopus graphics. It will be located at the B105 Sideshow Alley.

Discounted tickets to the Ekka and a full showbag guide will be available in Saturday’s Courier Mail.

RETURNING FAVOURITES:

XSCREAM SOUNDWAVE

This extreme back will return to the B105 Sideshow Alley. It has bright flashing lights, lasers and the latest music tunes pumping. The ride will have you spinning for some time after.

ENCHANTED CIRCUS

This is a family friendly ride which will dazzle and delight with three levels of thrill. Kids will have to balance as they cross the vibrating floor while they attempt the rope bridges.

ROCK STAR

This family friendly ride will allow people to get great views of the Ekka with a 360 degree rotation. It will be located at the Kids Carnival.

FREESTYLE

This extreme ride has you sitting almost 40m in the air as a spinning gondola moves back and fourth. It’s located at the Kids Carnival

THE BEAST

This extreme ride is the largest travelling ride in the Southern Hemisphere - it’s 25m tall and has a swing of 45m high. It will be located at the B105 Sideshow Alley and reaches speeds of 120km an hour.

PIRATES NEST

This family friendly ride is a four-level pirate themed funhouse which features 25 interactive obstacles and a interactive water play zone. It is located in the B105 Sideshow Alley.

SPOOK CASTLE

This scary ride is the largest portable ghost train in the Southern Hemisphere and features 10m high flames. It is near Kids Carnival on Gregory Terrace.

SPEED 2

This extreme ride reaches speeds of 120km an hour. It rotates at more than 10 revolutions per minute and is located at B105 Sideshow Alley.

CROWN FERRIS WHEEL

This family friendly ride sit sky high and features half a million dollars worth of lights. The Ferris wheel has 26 gondolas and is located at B105 Sideshow Alley.

TWISTER

This family friendly ride is sure to get the adrenaline going. It is located at the B105 Sideshow Alley.
