Western Downs police have warned residents to ensure that tools are stored securely after multiple charges were made recently relating to tool theft.

Dalby police allege that on May 29 tools were stolen from a secured toolbox that was on the back of a utility vehicle on Homebush St.

A search warrant was executed for another residence on the same street where it’s alleged police found the tools as well as illicit substances and items related to the consumption of illicit substances.

Two people from the address were charged, including a 32-year-old Dalby man, who was charged with one count of stealing, receiving tainted property, possessing utensils or pipes.

A 37-year-old Dalby woman was charged with three drug offences, with both people expected to appear at Dalby Magistrates Court on June 27.

Police said they have seen an increase in tools being stolen within the Dalby area and advised residents to remember to lock up tools, engrave them where possible and note down serial numbers in case police require them.
