A Western Downs man was charged by police after he was seen by multiple members of the public urinating in a park at broad daylight.
John Paul Watson had his matter dealt with in Chinchilla Magistrates Court on October 12 after pleading guilty in writing, however he did not physically appear in the courtroom.
Police prosecutor Derek Brady said multiple people saw the 53-year-old at the Botanical Parkland in Chinchilla early in the morning of September 22 walking around as he appeared “dishevelled” before urinating in the garden.
“A 16 and 13-year-old child reported it to police,” Sergeant Brady said.
“He was told by regional council supervisors to leave the park, which he did initially comply with.”
The court was told Watson returned at noon, harassing people who were around him and again publicly urinating in the park.
When police took up with the man he denied his actions, Sergeant Brady said the man denied publicly releaving himself.
Watson pleaded guilty to public nuisance.
He was fined $450, no conviction was recorded.
