A 51-year-old Tara man has landed himself in hot water after a search of his property found multiple weapons, drug paraphernalia and a stolen vehicle.
John Justin Doyle faced five charges in relation to possession of weapons, drug equipment and a stolen car as well as a separate unlawful driving offence, pleading guilty to all charges.
On December 5, 2023 police issued a search warrant at the home of Doyle for a separate unrelated matter where they found an operational taser, a flick knife, drug scales and a pipe which Doyle admitted he used to smoke methamphetamine.
Police also found a stolen car, however Doyle said he was unaware the car was stolen and claimed he had purchased it for $500 months prior.
He was however unable to produce a receipt of the vehicle’s purchase.
Magistrate Kyna Morice noted Doyle’s extensive seven pages of criminal history but took into account it had been a significant time since he had last faced court.
Ms Morice also took into account his early guilty plea as well as his co-operation with police.
Doyle was sentenced to eight months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, and a conviction was recorded.
