A Dalby man has been told to “grow up and stop acting like a ten year old” after pleading guilty to 31 charges of stalking and dangerous driving.

Ricky Thomas Fitzsimons fronted Dalby Magistrates Court over AVL from prison where he had already served 143 days in pre-sentence custody related to the charges.

Fitzsimons faced a slew of driving offences including the unlawful use of a motor vehicle where the unlicensed Fitzsimons leveraged his position as a mechanic to take his client’s cars and joy ride them including that of a 72-year-old man.

In addition, the court was told that on November 6 2023 the 32-year-old had broken into the home of an ex-partner and stolen an SD data storage card.

Fitzsimons also broke into the victim’s car, stealing cash and a credit card, which he then used at 3am that morning.

The court was told the victim had reached out to Fitzsimons following the theft, where he sent her a series of “vile” Snapchat messages calling her “worthless and useless”.

The court also heard he had installed a secret tracking device in her vehicle to monitor her movements following their break-up.

Fitzsimons was also charged with four separate evasion offences after fleeing from police.

In one incident Fitzsimons drove on the wrong side of the road forcing drivers to pull over and sped through multiple intersections without giving way.

Magistrate Kyna Morice said he had displayed “an utter disregard for members of the community”.

Fitzsimons pleaded guilty to all charges which occurred between April 23 and November 6 and was sentenced to 18 months behind bars, with a parole release date of May 5, 2024.
