Jack Laurie Sheahan: Roma truckie busted driving on meth

A Roma truckie and tradie who fell into the ‘wrong crowd’ has fronted Dalby court after he was busted driving with drugs in his system in southwest and central Queensland.

A Roma tradie who became involved with the “wrong crowd” and smoked meth has fronted court after he was busted drug driving twice in a month.

Dalby Magistrates Court heard Jack Laurie Sheahan was pinned by police on June 18 and July 8 driving in Longreach and Eurella while having meth in his system, as well as amphetamines on the second intercept.

Brisbane defence solicitor Elizabeth Davey regaled the court with the 23-year-old’s work history as a tradie, farm worker, and a truckie in south west Queensland after his schooling in Toowoomba.

Ms Daveys tendered several documents to magistrate Kerrie O’Callaghan about Sheahan’s rehabilitation and his good character, and said the 23-year-old would lose his current driving job after his court appearance.

She told the court her client “developed a problem with smoking methamphetamine” and had been involved with the “wrong crowd”.

Sheahan pleaded guilty to two counts of drug driving and was sentenced to nine months’ probation and disqualified from driving for six months.
