Henry Paul Gyemore: Dalby man pleads guilty to using victim’s card for shopping spree, stealing speaker

Within in an hour of having his victim’s card, the Dalby man racked up purchases at McDonald’s, Freedom Fuels, and the BP, before trying to get himself a new look online.

A Dalby man who bought Macca’s, cigarettes and clothes during a shopping spree with another person’s bank card has been forced to pay it all back.

Henry Paul Gyemore thought it was his lucky day after he found a woman’s card after she lost it in Dalby on May 2, 2019.

Police prosecutor Derek Brady told Dalby Magistrates Court Gyemore’s victim went to police with bank transactions that showed her card had been used after after it was lost.

The court heard the 42-year-old father used it at the BP, Freedom Fuels, and McDonald’s within an hour of it being taken, and was captured on CCTV carrying out the dodgy purchases.

Sergeant Brady said Gyemore attempted to buy an item from The Iconic online clothing store as well, but police were able to stop the transaction.

The 42-year-old had breached a suspended sentence at the time he carried out the offending.

The court was not given an insight into why the matter had taken so long to be dealt with in court.

Gyemore also walked out of Big W in Dalby with a large $230 speaker during a brazen theft in May.

Defence solicitor Michael McElhinney said the 42-year-old father badly broke his leg earlier this year, which made it difficult for him to do his community service he had previously been ordered to perform.

Gyemore pleaded guilty to four counts of fraud, and one each of stealing, receiving tainted property and contravening a community service order.

He was sentenced to nine months’ probation, ordered to pay restitution of $363.49 and his suspended sentence was extended by 14 days.
