Toowoomba woman dies in serious Western Downs crash

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after a woman died following a serious two car crash northwest of Toowoomba.

Police say a 65-year-old woman driver involved in a serious crash in the Western Downs on Friday died as a result of the injuries she suffered in the horror crash.

Emergency services were to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Cecil Plains Road and Moonie Highway, on Friday, just after 4pm.

A maroon Ford Falcon sedan and white Toyota Landcruiser were driving northeast along the highway at Weir River, east of Cambridge Crossing Road, when it is believed the crash occurred.

The woman who was driving the Ford, was left trapped in the wreckage in a critical condition, following the crash.

Police said she died at the scene.

She was the sole occupant of the sedan.

A 50-year-old man from Westbrook who was driving the Landcruiser, and its sole occupant, was not physically injured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident and encourage anyone who may have witnessed the incident to assist.
