A number of drink or drug drivers faced the Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday. From a driver who appeared from prison to an Australia Post driver, here are the latest results from court.

Dean Lenard Horsburgh

Horsburgh, 34, appeared over AVL from prison when he was being held for a separate matter pleading guilty to one count of drink driving.

The court heard on August 4 2024 Horsburgh was subjected to an RBT on Hamlyn Road Oakey narrowly returning a positive reading of 0.052.

When sentencing magistrate Kathleen Payne took into account Horsburgh’s drug driving history, the fact he was currently incarcerated and his “exceptionally low reading”.

He was hit with a one month disqualification and no conviction was recorded.

Shane Ashley May

May, 45 faced court on Tuesday pleading guilty to drug driving after police detected him Wyley Street Dalby.

The court heard May was subject to an RBT on November 11, 2024, about 3.21pm returning a positive reading for methamphetamine.

May was also on his P-plates at the time of the offending.

May was previously in court on January 22 the same year for similar offending.

For his offending he was fined $350, received a three month licence suspension and no conviction was recorded.

Brock Alexander Dunlop

Dunlop, 19, appeared in court pleading guilty to one count of driving under the influence of drugs.

The court heard Dunlop was detected on Myall St, Dalby on November 30 where he was issued a drug test, returning a positive reading for THC.

For his offending the P-plate driver was fined $350, referred to SPER and a three month loss of licence. No conviction was recorded.

Ruth Maree Bromley

Bromley pleaded to drink driving after she was detected on the Warrego Highway near Bowenville on January 9, 2025.

On the day of the offending she was issued an RBT returning a reading of 0.126.

Bromley, who was an Australian Post driver, applied for a restricted licence which would allow her to drive between the hours of 6am and 4.30pm during the week.

As part of her application Bromley was made to take the stand and swear under oath.

Bromely told the court her 18-year-old daughter had recently graduated school and her husband had lost his job meaning she was the sole breadwinner for the family.

She said losing her licence would have a significant impact on their livelihood and apologised for the out of character offending.

Her restricted license was granted and she was fined $650 referred to SPER.

No conviction was recorded.
