Dalby police are investigating a series of disturbing break ins within the area, with thieves being spooked off by residents on two occasions.

Residents were asleep in their beds along Myall Street and Bunya Street on Thursday evening when the cowardly criminals entered two homes.

Senior constable Vanessa Firman said the offenders cut their way through the fly screen of a window at the Bunya Street address, before being disturbed by those at home.

She said they alighted from the scene with a set of keys.

The same evening an unknown number of offenders entered a garage of a Myall Street home, but took off when they were the property’s spotlights came on.

Investigations are also continuing at a break in rural property in Bowenville, after a number of items were stolen during a brazen daylight theft on Tuesday.

Criminals rummaged through the home according to senior constable Firman, and stole property, food, and the identification cards of the homeowners.

She said they were able to break in through the back door between 5.30am and 3pm.

Senior constable Firman wanted to advise residents in the district to remain vigilant with their home security, and encouraged items such as cameras and spotlights for protection.
