Kirra Maree Barry said the stress of starting a new job was behind her reason to get behind the wheel with marijuana in her system.

The 20-year-old was pulled over for a roadside drug test on March 30, while driving on Marble St in Dalby.

Magistrate Kerrie O’Callaghan berated the Dalby woman for her recent history.

“It’s concerning this is your third time in a short period of time,” she said.

Barry pleaded guilty to drug driving and was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for six months.

Father of three, Mark Paul Ferguson faced court with “a terrible traffic history” after being nabbed drink driving.

Ferguson was busted driving in Tara on March 30 with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.064.

Lawyer Michael Bond said his 33-year-old client had not eaten all day and had previously worked hard to overcome substance abuse issues.

“He has ADHD, and is an ex-addict, (but) he hasn’t touched ice or heroin for six or seven years,” Mr Bond said.

Ms O’Callaghan said his decision to drive may have been related to his past issues.

“It’s really important you don’t make those choices again,” Ms O’Callaghan said.

The Tara man pleaded guilty to drink driving and was fined $350.

He was also disqualified from driving for one month.

Shaquille Wayne Timothy Knox was busted driving on the Warrego Highway on April 3 with ice in his system.

The Harristown man told the court he was remorseful and the decision would impact his life.

“It’s going to affect my job, but I have to suffer the consequences myself,” he said.

Magistrate O’Callaghan said due to the man’s lengthy traffic history, he’d be disqualified for a longer period.

Knox pleaded guilty to drug driving and was fined $400 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Boe Jay Larsen had nothing to say about driving with meth in her system when she represented herself in the Dalby court.

The 34-year-old was caught drug driving on Dalby-Cecil Plains Rd in St Ruth on New Year’s Day.

Larsen pleaded guilty to drug driving and was fined $350 and banned from driving for one month.

No conviction recorded

A P-plater who had ice and marijuana in her system when she ploughed into another car has been told she is lucky the collision didn’t end in tragedy.

Diahann Kaye Gale told police she thought the other car had to give way to her, following the March 12 collision on Wood St.

Ms O’Callaghan told the 18-year-old she was lucky that the crash wasn’t as serious as it could have been.

The Dalby woman pleaded guilty to drug driving, and was fined $600 and disqualified from driving for three months.

No conviction was recorded.

A 20-year-old P-plater caught drink driving after a night out told the court she thoughts be in the clear.

Chloe Michelle Capes had a BAC of 0.028 when she was stopped at a RBT site in Clinton on April 17.

The Dalby woman, who represented herself in court, said she was unaware she’d still be over the alcohol limit.

“I take full responsibility for it,” she said.

Capes pleaded guilty to drinking and was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for three months.

No conviction was recorded.
