A teenager involved in a brazen theft of hundreds of dollars worth of council plants had an aggressive run in with police during a wild night out at a Dalby pub.
Bella Kate Mcmillan racked up three charges on the evening of August 14, when she was given a move-on direction by police along Marble Street.
Police prosecutor Derek Brady said Mcmillan was spotted by police later that night at the Russell Tavern where she tried to “conceal herself” by leaving the pub as they drove past.
The 18-year-old spoke to police and said she had spent her last $20, before she screamed out to other patrons to “help her”.
The court heard she yelled out “f– k off” to police during her arrest, and tried to pull her hand away as she was restrained.
She then obstructed police again at the watch-house.
Mcmillan ran into police on September 3 once again, after her and three other people were intercepted with up to 39 stolen Western Downs Regional Council plants in their car.
The court heard the council sought $180 from each offender.
Defence solicitor Michael McElhinney said the young mum’s night out at the Dalby pub was “out of character”, and said she was one day late to give her particulars, leading to a contravene police requirement charge.
Mcmillan pleaded guilty to two counts of obstructing police, stealing, contravening a direction in a licensed premises, and contravening a police requirement.
She was placed on a six-month good behaviour order and ordered to pay $180 restitution.
No convictions were recorded.
